I don’t know where to start and there are no words……… Over the weekend, we noticed a change to Julia’s breathing. She had a busy weekend with playdates with friends and time with family. It was ever so slight, but by Monday night it appeared that something had changed. Her heart beat seemed to be more rapid and her respiration increased. We headed to the hospital very early this morning to get to get a line placed in Julia’s neck to allow for the stem cell harvest. Update from a Week of Blood Tests

This past week, Julia had several clinic visits to check her blood counts. Monday, Julia’s platelets were low and she needed to receive a transfusion. Back to clinic again on Wednesday and Friday, but this time transfusions weren’t necessary although her hemoglobin and platelet counts were low. Beginning Sunday (Mother’s Day), we started to give Julia daily Neupogen injections in preparation for a stem cell harvest. These shots will help to build up Julia’s white blood counts (similar to the Neulasta). Julia’s white counts were low all week and it seemed to take longer for recovery than with the Neulasta injection that she usually receives after chemo, but then again, her recovery is coming

Happy Mother’s Day

It has been weeks since I have updated everyone. The time seemed to go by so quickly. When Julia had rough days, all I wanted was to be with her to give her comfort. When she had good days, all I wanted to do was celebrate and luckily, the good days have outnumbered the bad. The week after scans was great. Julia made it to school for four days and was able to take part in the school presentation to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. If you remember, back in November, Julia’s school raised money in her honor for CHOP.
